On my first podcast I decided to start closer to home than I perhaps expected. This album isn’t an obvious starting point on this journey; a journey that will take in funky African rhythms, South American exotica, the mystical musical mysteries of the orient and Balkan gypsy stompers. It is however an album of intoxicating psychedelic rock music that I love. It’s also called ‘World Music’. And whilst those two words of reductive record shop labelling sweepingly categorises a vast cannon of distinct and varied music into an oversimplified ‘genre’, its also an apt starting point for a blog and podcast purposely travelling each country if the world.
So whilst from this point on the words ‘World Music’ will be banned, for one podcast only, I will allow it! I hope you enjoy it!
